SHORT SYNOPSIS

This Tony award-winning musical focuses on Anna, the owner of a dilapidated roller skating rink on the boardwalk of a decaying seaside resort, and her plan to sell it to developers. By doing so, her intention is to demolish both the rink (with the help of six male wreckers)and the sour memories it holds of her estranged husband and daughter.

Complicating her plans, her prodigal daughter Angel returns to town, seeking to reconnect with the people and places she long ago left behind. Through a series of flashbacks, revelations and emotional battling, the two deal with their pasts, in their attempt to reconcile and move on with their lives.

This dramatic, powerful and humorous story won much admiration both on Broadway and in the West End of London for its biting and funny lyrics, scintillating music and punchy orchestrations.
